NATIONAL NIGHT OUT  is celebrated throughout America as an annual “Give Neighborhood Crime  a Going Away Party.” Most of the United States celebrates this event on the first Tuesday in August but Texans celebrate on the first Tuesday in October. National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  • Generate support for local anti-crime efforts.
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 6:00 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, residents of Sharpstown are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Neighbor knowing neighbor is one of the most effective ways to prevent crime. Local law enforcement and S.E.A.L. Patrol Units with K-9s will briefly visit with residents of many of the blocks that register their parties with the SCA.

National Night Out celebrates our Police – Community Partnerships. The Houston Police Department and Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 5’s commitment to community policing must include you, the community.

We hope you will join us the other 364 days of the year by becoming a SHARPSTOWN WATCH Block Captain. Please contact the Safety & Security Committee at 713-789-2311 to join the team!
